For optimal results, most patients require four to five acne treatment sessions, each spaced about two weeks apart, as well our acne scar treatments to reduce the scars that old acne breakouts may have left behind. Results continue to improve over time, and optimal results are usually seen in four to six weeks and can last for four to eight months.

Dr. Hakimian may prescribe topical acne treatments in addition to in-office acne treatment or alone. These gels, serums, and lotions can be taken home and applied daily by the patient to continue fighting acne. Obagi® offers a great skin care treatment product known as Nu-Derm®, and also offers CLENZIderm®, which is designed specifically for the treatment of acne. Avage® is another topical ointment that may work for you, and is distributed by Allergan®, the same company that produces Botox®. Finally, Dr. Hakimian also offers products from the entire Vi-Derm® skin care line, which include many acne treatment and prevention products.
