Under The Eye Bags

Under The Eyes Bags

Under-eye bags can occur when the tissues under the eyes lose their tight tone. When this happens, the muscles under the eye can sag and the fatty tissues there can bulge out. This can occur from fatigue, allergies, swelling, or obesity, but most commonly results simply during the aging process. When we are young, our muscles and skin hold the fatty tissues in our face in place, giving us a firm and tight look. As we age, we start to lose the natural collagen and tightness in our skin that gives us this firm look. When this happens, our skin and muscles can begin to sag. The more fatty tissue that collects under the eye, the most weight that pulls down on the skin there, making it sag even more and collect even more fatty tissue, creating a cycle of continually sagging under-eye bags.

Here at Laser Touch Medical Clinic, we offer two ways to treat under-eye bags. One non-surgical option is a laser and light procedure. The most popular under-eye bag laser and light procedures are known as MicroLaserPeel™ and ProFractional™. MicroLaserPeel™ and ProFractional™ uses a laser and light energy to heat and stimulate collagen production in your skin, helping to tighten and lift the skin under and around your eye.

If Dr. Hakimian determines that MicroLaserPeel™ and ProFractional™ is right for you, he will schedule you for a treatment procedure appointment. First, you will receive oral pain medication and local anesthesia. This numbing process usually takes about 45 minutes to begin working, and the MicroLaserPeel™ and ProFractional™ treatment takes an additional fifteen to twenty minutes. These laser and light procedures work by penetrating deep into the skin to resurfaces skin that looks tired and old or is sagging.

A second way to treat under-eye bags is through the use of dermal fillers or topical products. Dermal fillers such as Restylane® and Juvéderm® work by filling out the hollow and sagging areas under the eye, tightening the tissues there to achieve a firmer, younger look. Topical applications like Revision Teamine Eye Complex® or the Obagi ELASTIderm® Eye Treatment can also be purchased by patients for a more gradual approach that can be done at home. The Teamine Eye Complex® and ELASTIderm® Eye Treatment products can be applied as lotions under the eyes at nighttime to gradually reduce the appearance of under-eye bags.

Together, you and Dr. Hakimian can determine which under-eye bag treatment is right for you.

The friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to discuss under-eye bag treatments and any of our other facial procedures with you.
