How To Prepare For Your Botox® Appointment!

How To Prepare For Your Botox® Appointment!

Botox® has become one of the most popular options to treat and prevent wrinkles from forming.. It is no surprise that Botox®  injections have dramatically increased in the last decade not only in females, but males as well due to wanting to have a more youthful appearance. As more people are scheduling for Botox®, we thought we'd share a few tips on how to have the most stress free, positive experience for your Botox®  appointment!

Botox® treatments:

-Facial Wrinkles

 -Medically Diagnosed Chronic Migraines

-Excessive sweating in the hands and underarms hands, underarms, feet and groin area

-Uncontrollable Blinking

-Overactive Bladders

-Uncontrollable Muscle Spasms

A Board Certified Doctor will administer the Botox® injections. This is a very simple, same-day procedure that you can even do on your lunch break, in other words little to no downtime. As always, there are a few things that should be avoided after Botox® which we will talk about later.

Let's see how you can best prepare!

  1. Know when Botox® is not an option for you. Consult with your physician if this treatment is right for you.

Botox® may not be an alternative for you if any of these apply to you.

-If you have an allergy of Botox®

-Have difficulty swallowing, breathing, bruise easily or any bleeding disorders.

-You have a muscle or nerve disorder.

-Are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Follow up with your primary physician first before scheduling for a Botox® appointment to address clear any questions or concerns that you may have.

  1. Be Stress Free

Easier said than done, we know. It is still a doctor's appointment and that can make some people nervous or anxious. Schedule your appointment on a day that you are free or have minimal obligations. Arrive early to the appointment to avoid any issues such as parking, traffic or other avenues that may be stress inducing and out of your control.

  1. Medications

Make sure you let the Doctor know if you are on any medications that may include

-Blood Thinners

-Muscle Relaxants

-Fish Oils

-Vitamin E

-Allergy Medications

  1. Cleanse the Face

The morning of your appointment, make sure you clean your face thoroughly. Warm water and facial cleansers should suffice, but try not to put on makeup or lotion on the face. If you do, we may have you use makeup remover to clean the face, but in order to save you time in the office it is easier to show up to the appointment without makeup on. You can put makeup on after the appointment with no worries.

Come to your appointment knowing a list of current medications you are taking, no makeup on the face and all while trying to keep those stress levels down! Our medical staff is well oriented to keeping our patients calm and informed every step of the appointment.
