Eyelash Conditioners

If you have thin or short eyelashes, talk to Dr. Hakimian about our take-home eyelash conditioners. Laser Touch Medical Clinic offers Latisse® as a take-home product that patients may use to help increase the length and volume and to grow longer eyelashes.

Hypotrichosis is a medical condition that is characterized by inadequate or too few eyelashes. For many people, mascara is not enough of a treatment for this condition, as mascara needs a base set of lashes on which to cling. With too few lashes or lashes that are incredibly short, mascara has nowhere to grab on and stick.

If Dr. Hakimian determines that you have hypotrichosis and that you may benefit from our eyelash treatments, he may offer you the world-renowned Latisse® eyelash enhancing product. Eyelash conditioner treatments are also great compliments to our droopy eyelid treatments.

Latisse® is a prescriptive option for hypotrichosis to make lashes longer and thicker. The solution initially was derived from topical drops to control the progression of glaucoma as well as reduce intraocular pressure in the eye. Thicker, lush eyelashes was a side effect of using the drops and eventually, it became approved for cosmetic use. To date,  it is the only FDA-approved treatment clinically proven to grow lashes.

Before applying Latisse®, make sure your face is clean and free from makeup. Also, always make sure to remove contact lenses before applying Latisse®. Next, place one drop of Latisse® on the area closest to the tip of applicator (but not on the tip itself) while holding the applicator horizontally. Immediately draw the applicator along the base of the upper eyelashes from the inner part of your eye out. Never apply Latisse® to your lower lashes. Blot any excess solution or solution that finds its way beyond the eyelid with a tissue, and then dispose of the applicator. Use a new applicator for each eye and for each application. For a video on how to perform this application, you can visit the Latisse® website.

Our eyelash conditioners are not a replacement for mascara, although they may darken your lashes. Eyelash conditioners work by lengthening the duration of the growth phase of the hair. This phase is called the anagen phase. The longer the anagen phase, the longer the hairs will grow to be. In addition, Latisse® helps to increase the number of hairs that grow during this phase, creating a fuller set of eyelashes.

Side effects of eyelash conditioner treatments include itching and/or redness of the eyes. Rare but possible side effects include the darkening of the skin of the eyelids, eye irritation, change in eye color, eye dryness, and redness of the eyelids.

The friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to discuss eyelash conditioners and any of our other facial procedures with you. Please call us at 1-888-LASER-15 (1-888-527-3715) to schedule an appointment at any of our five Laser Touch Medical Clinics or schedule an appointment online.
