The VI Peel™ was created by a dermatologist in 2005 and is considered to be one of the safest and most effective chemical peels for a broad range of skin types. The peel is sub-dermal, meaning it peels away surface damage and also lightens underneath damage, and is formulated with a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients meant to improve skin tone, soften fine lines, and provide overall anti-aging benefits. What sets the VI Peel™ apart from other chemical peels, is that it was specifically designed to be more comfortable than other peels, as well as produce amazing results with less downtime. In fact, Forbes has named the VI Peel™ as one of the best grooming and wellness treatments of 2020, stating that it is a great option for those of all age groups who want healthy, radiant skin. In addition, Marie Claire assistant beauty editor, Chelsea Hall, lists the VI Peel™ as her favorite facial, as it helps with her hyperpigmentation and acne scarring.
How does a VI Peel at Laser Touch Medical Clinic work?
If Dr. Hakimian determines that you would benefit from a VI Peel™ chemical peel, he will schedule you for a chemical peel appointment. No topical anesthetics are needed, as the procedure is quite painless. Although patients may feel a slight stinging sensation when the topical application is first applied, this usually dissipates in just a few seconds, and many patients feel quite comfortable under a cool fan or breeze, which we will happily provide. The complete procedure usually takes about twenty minutes, and you may return to all normal activities immediately.
Three to four days after your VI Peel™ chemical peel, you will experience a light and flaky peeling of the skin. This is the dead skin coming off, leaving your refreshed and beautiful skin behind. Our clinic will provide you with a take-home kit to help enhance your treatment during this time, which includes towelettes, sunscreen, and a moisturizer. A single VI Peel™ chemical peel treatment can achieve significant results, and as long as sun exposure is moderate, only needs to be performed three to four times a year to maintain optimal results.
Side effects include a tan to red look that should dissipate within a week. Skin may feel tight for the first two days, and peeling usually occurs on the third and fourth days. After about a week you should show no side effects other than clear, beautiful skin. It is also suggested that patients purchase helpful products such as bleaching and exfoliating creams to complement their peels.
